'Welfare' appointed Sports Council chair for Upper West Region


Mr. Osman Tankari Mohammed ‘Welfare’ has been appointed as the new Chairman for the Upper West Regional Sports Council.


The versatile administrator, who played a vital role in the formation of Wa All Stars FC for their qualification into the Ghana Premier league, has been confirmed as the new face of upper west Sports council.


Upper West Regional Minister, Hon Hafiz Bin Salih, confirmed the official appointment of ‘Welfare’ as the new Sports Council chairman.


Osman Tankari Mohammed, known in the political parlance as Zongo Governor, rose through the political ranks within the NPP set-up to become a universally adored figure across the political divide.


He was a prominent player in the Zongo development programs across the country and is now the Regional NASARA Coordinator for NPP in the Upper West region.


As the president forms his second term government, the full complement of the Upper West Sports Council will be announced in the following weeks.
