The Lawra Municipal Agricultural Directorate has recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of a young farmer, Daniel Konsuur Dine-Velikuu, who has been named the Overall Best Farmer for 2025 in the municipality. The award ceremony took place in Eremong-Zingpen, highlighting Dine-Velikuu’s dedication to both crop production and animal husbandry.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Dine-Velikuu commended the Lawra Municipal Assembly and the Agricultural Directorate for the honor. During the event, he urged fellow youth to view farming as a rewarding and viable business venture. He emphasized that agriculture not only sustains families but also offers a meaningful avenue for contributing to national development. Dine-Velikuu encouraged educated individuals, employed persons, and students to consider integrating crop and livestock farming into their lives as a complementary activity that can bolster their professions and the local agricultural sector. He underscored that farming is a discipline rooted in commitment, resilience, and hard work, not a punishment.

In his remarks, Mr. Jacob Akisbadek, the Lawra Agricultural Director, highlighted the Directorate’s role in supporting farmers through various stages of production. He noted a significant increase in the cultivation of peppers, tomatoes, and other vegetables, attributing this growth to farmers making effective use of resources provided by the Black Volta.

The Lawra Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Soyyeleh Cecilia Nuratu, emphasized the importance of Farmers’ Day as an occasion to honor the perseverance and dedication of farmers whose efforts are vital to the well-being of the community and the nation.
