The Assembly Member for Wogu Electoral Area in the Daffiamah-Busse Issa District, Emmanuel Konogini, has raised concern over what he describes as a “white elephant” NHIA district office crippled by severe staff shortages.
Speaking at the first Ordinary Meeting of the second session of the fourth Assembly, Mr Konogini revealed that the office is running with just two staff members — the Manager and the Accountant while more than 12 essential job positions remain vacant.
He lamented that this inefficiency is worsening unemployment in the district, even as office desks sit empty. The Assembly Member alleged that political interests are behind the staffing gaps, warning that partisan considerations must be set aside when vacancies arise.
“We cannot keep our youth unemployed while critical offices remain abandoned,” he charged.
Responding to the concerns, Mr. James Wor, the District Chief Executive said new recruits are currently undergoing training and assured that the staffing crisis at the NHIA office will soon be resolved.
If the promises hold, the long-stalled operations of the NHIA in Daffiama Bussie Issa District may finally get the manpower boost it desperately needs.
