Wa West District Boosts Sanitation Efforts with New Motorbikes for Environmental Officers

The Wa West District Assembly has enhanced its sanitation operations by providing the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department with five new motorbikes to better serve five Area Councils within the district.

Speaking exclusively to Info Radio, District Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer Edward Yendor highlighted the government’s ongoing support for improved sanitation management nationwide. He explained that the donation of the motorbikes, led by District Chief Executive Hon. Richard Wulo, is part of a broader initiative to strengthen the department’s capacity to monitor and promote proper hygiene practices.

“These motorbikes will enable our sanitation officers to access communities more efficiently and intensify public education efforts on sanitation and hygiene,” Yendor stated. He also noted that the motorbikes will play a crucial role in supporting activities during the upcoming National Sanitation Day, a government-led campaign to promote cleanliness across Ghana.

Yendor expressed gratitude to the District Assembly for the support, emphasizing that the new logistical resources would significantly improve the department’s outreach and supervision capabilities. He added that the department has been actively engaging with food vendors in markets to promote proper hygiene and sanitation standards.

While acknowledging that the five motorbikes will primarily serve the five Area Councils, Yendor expressed hope for future support. “We look forward to additional motorbikes to expand our monitoring activities and reach more communities across the district,” he said.

Mr. Yendor reaffirmed the district’s commitment to environmental sustainability, including ongoing efforts to achieve a plastic-free environment. He remained optimistic that these initiatives, coupled with improved logistics, would foster healthier and cleaner communities in Wa West.
