The In-Charge of Criminal Records and Reception at Wa Central Prison, DSP Majeed Alhassan, has urged families to provide consistent support to relatives struggling with drug addiction, saying encouragement at home can improve their chances of recovery.

Speaking to Info Radio, DSP Alhassan said tackling substance abuse requires cooperation between authorities, families and the wider community. He noted that rehabilitation and long-term recovery programmes are important, but professional treatment is more likely to succeed when people also have emotional support.

He described the home environment as central to recovery and encouraged families to take an active role in the process. Steady encouragement, he said, can help people battling addiction find the motivation to pursue treatment and stop using drugs.
