Wa West District Assembly to register Fulani Herdsmen

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West, Madam Vida Diorotey, has disclosed that the district assembly has initiated plans to register all Fulani herdsmen in the district to prevent rampant cattle theft cases.

According to the DCE, the registration will help retrieve cattle that will get lost from the Fulani herdsmen. She said this during the celebration of Tiyiriyela Timaaleyiri Tigre at Bultuo.

Speaking on the issue, Madam Diorotey urged all cattle owners and the Fulani herdsmen to come to the district assembly to be registered.

She also appealed to the cattle owners to ensure the effective monitoring of their cattle by the Fulani Herdsmen.

“I am pleading with you to take good care of your cattle. You give your cattle to a Fulani herdsman you don’t know much and so this time the assembly has taken the initiative to register all herdsmen.”

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Mr Ephraim Dassah, has raised the concern about rampant theft cases in his electoral area and called on the Wa West district assembly to intervene.
