The District Chief Executive for Wa West, Hon. Richard Wulo, has reaffirmed the district’s commitment to enhancing its road network as a vital component of its development agenda. He emphasized that improving accessibility remains a top priority for the district’s socio-economic growth.

Hon. Wuolo disclosed that the District Assembly, with rsupport from Wa West Member of Parliament, Hon. Peter Lanchene, has undertaken numerous road projects aimed at opening up the district and facilitating economic activities. He credited the availability of District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machinery for enabling the assembly to undertake the rehabilitation and construction of key feeder roads across the district.

However, he highlighted that limited Internally Generated Funds (IGF) continue to pose a significant obstacle to the full realization of development projects. As a result, the Assembly has appealed to the MP for additional financial support. In response, Hon. Lanchene has provided financial assistance totaling GH¢200,000 on two separate occasions, specifically to support road construction and rehabilitation efforts. The DCE praised the MP’s active role in bridging the gap between the district and the central government, describing him as an effective liaison.

Hon. Wuolo also outlined some of the successful projects, including the opening and rehabilitation of feeder roads that have greatly improved access to numerous communities within Wa West. Among these are roads connecting the district capital to border communities along Burkina Faso, which are crucial for trade and mobility.

While acknowledging ongoing efforts, the DCE appealed for patience from residents of communities yet to benefit from the ongoing improvements. He explained that heavy rains have temporarily hampered the deployment of DRIP machines to certain areas but assured the public that work would resume once the weather permits.
