Wa, Upper West Region - Residents of Wa are outraged and demanding answers from the Ghana Police Service after two more security guards were brutally murdered in the town on Monday night, just as the police are yet to crack the case of the 2022 serial killings of 11 night security guards.
The latest victims, whose identities have been withheld pending notification of their families, were attacked and killed while on duty. One of the victims was found with his throat cut while guarding the Wa East GES office in Wa-Konta, while the other was discovered buried near the Wa Model JHS.
The fresh killings have reignited anger and fear among residents, who are calling on the police to provide regular updates on their investigations into the case. In an interview with Info Radio, residents demanded that the police provide reports on suspects arrested in connection with the 2022 serial killings and brief them on how they are pursuing the assailants.
"We want to know who is behind these killings and what the police are doing to catch them," said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous. "We want updates on any progress made in the investigation into the previous murders. It's unacceptable that we have had to endure this for so long without any justice."

The Waala Traditional Council, led by the Wa Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, has also called on the Upper West Police Command to provide residents with updates on their investigations into the previous ritual murders in the Wa municipality before commencing investigations into these fresh killings.
"It's imperative that we know what happened in the past and what is being done to prevent similar incidents from occurring," said the Wa Naa in a statement. "We urge the police to be transparent and keep us informed about their investigations."
The Upper West police command are to comment on the fresh killings or provide any updates on their investigations. The Wa public is eagerly awaiting answers as to why these senseless murders continue to plague their communities.
The residents of Wa are demanding justice for the victims and their families, and they expect more from their law enforcement agencies. It is imperative that the police take concrete steps to apprehend those responsible for these heinous crimes and bring them to justice.
It is imperative for the Ghana Police Service to take immediate action to address the concerns of residents and provide answers to these pressing questions. The people of Wa deserve no less than transparency and accountability from their law enforcement agencies.
