Mr. Christopher Yuomah, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics at Lassia Tuolo Senior High School (SHS), has appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and individuals to support the school by providing essential laboratory equipment and addressing staff shortages.
Despite the school’s commendable academic performance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Mr Yuomah revealed that the school’s science laboratory remains poorly equipped.
According to him, the lack of laboratory tools hinders the effective teaching and learning of science-related subjects.
“A well-equipped laboratory is vital for the practical understanding of scientific concepts. Our students are performing well, but with the right tools, they can do even better,” Mr. Yuomah stated.
In addition to the urgent need for laboratory equipment, he highlighted the critical shortage of teaching staff, which he said is straining the existing teachers and affecting the overall quality of education.
Mr. Yuomah called on the Ghana Education Service (GES) to post more qualified teachers to Lassia Tuolo SHS. He also encouraged teachers across the country to consider accepting postings to the school, assuring them of a warm welcome and a supportive environment.
“We are ready to receive teachers who wish to transfer to our school. The need is great, and their presence will make a significant difference in the lives of our students,” he added.
Mr. Yuomah’s appeal comes at a time when many rural schools continue to struggle with inadequate infrastructure and staffing. He hopes that swift intervention from stakeholders will help bridge the gap and enhance the learning experience for students at Lassia Tuolo SHS.
The Assistant Headmaster reiterated the importance of collective support in ensuring that all students, regardless of location, have access to quality education and the resources they need to thrive.
