Wa Power Sporting Club kicked off the Access Bank National Division League with an impressive 3-1 victory over Walewale Catholic Star at the Naa Shariga Sports Complex on Saturday.
The match, originally scheduled for Wa Malik Jabir’s Park, was relocated to accommodate logistical needs. Despite the venue change, Wa Power showcased their dominance from the outset, taking an early lead.
The first half saw Wa Power’s striker, Wahid Issahaku, net two goals within the first 12 minutes, igniting the home crowd's enthusiasm. Israel Iddrisu and Mabrouk Mohammed added the two goals in the 22ND and 87TH minute respectively.
Walewale Catholic Star struggled to find their footing but pulled one back just before halftime with a well-placed ball from their midfielder, Danso Seth.
Coach Alhaji Believer, praised his team’s performance, stating, “We executed our game plan effectively. The boys showed great determination and teamwork, and I’m proud of their effort today.”
