Wa Municipal Assembly halts all market development projects for review

The Wa Municipal Assembly has announced the immediate suspension of all market development activities within the municipality, affecting both public and private sector projects.

In an official statement issued by Adams Moro, the Municipal Coordinating Director on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Issah Nurah Danwana, the Assembly cited the need for a comprehensive review and restructuring of the market development framework.

The move is aimed at ensuring better coordination, strategic planning, and adherence to relevant regulations governing development in the municipality.

“This directive applies to all projects whether undertaken through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), private initiatives, or individual efforts,” the statement emphasized.

The decision is expected to impact a wide range of stakeholders, including private developers, traders’ associations, and individuals engaged in or planning market-related infrastructure within the municipality.

The Assembly is urging all affected parties to report to the Office of the Municipal Chief Executive for further discussions regarding their ongoing or proposed projects.

“The Assembly remains committed to promoting organized and sustainable development for the benefit of all,” the statement added.

While the Assembly did not provide a specific timeline for the review process or when the suspension might be lifted, officials underscored the importance of cooperation from the public in achieving a well-structured and compliant market environment.
