Wa East District To Implements Major Educational Infrastructure and Performance Improvement Initiatives

The Wa East District Assembly has unveiled comprehensive plans to bolster educational infrastructure and enhance student performance within the district. Speaking on Info Radio News Current Affairs program Tizine Yiri Yela , The Wa East District Chief Executive Hon. Adamu Sayibu outlined several key initiatives aimed at transforming the educational landscape.


Hon. Sayibu revealed that four basic schools , Funsi Primary, Kpaglahi Primary, Kpaanamuna Primary, and Jumo Primary are currently undergoing renovations to address damage caused by recent rainstorms. Additionally, the overcrowding at Manwe Basic School has prompted the district to split the school into two sections, designated as Block A and Block B. The Assembly also plans to construct a new Junior High School (JHS) Block B at Manwe to accommodate increasing student numbers.


In a bid to further improve learning conditions, the district plan to manufacture and distribute 1,000 dual desks, with 500 allocated to both primary and JHS levels.


Hon. Sayibu also announced a strategic move to convert the recently completed Senior High School (SHS) block at Dupare into a tertiary education institution. He emphasized that some existing SHS in the district have low enrollment and highlighted the absence of tertiary institutions in the area. The DCE has appealed to the Regional Minister to consider this proposal, which could significantly expand higher education access for residents.


In a related development, the Wa East District Education Office has outlined measures to improve student performance in the upcoming 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Mohammed Damba Issah, the Human Resource Director of the Education Directorate, speaking to Info Radio stated that , intensified monitoring and oversight efforts are underway to ensure better teaching and learning outcomes across the district.
