The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Wa East District has confirmed a series of ten fire outbreaks within the area, including one domestic fire incident. The organization’s Director addressed the public on the recent spate of fires, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and responsible conduct among residents.
During an interview with Info Radio, the Director urged community members to exercise caution, especially as farmers continue harvesting their crops. He advised farmers to take necessary precautions to safeguard their farm produce from potential fire damage.
The Director also appealed to individuals involved in the indiscriminate felling of valuable commercial trees, specifically shea and dawadawa, to cease such practices. He highlighted that such activities not only threaten the environment but may also increase the risk of fire outbreaks.
The NADMO official emphasized the importance of community cooperation and responsible behavior to prevent further fire incidents and promote sustainable environmental practices in the district.
