Upper West RFA elects division two clubs EXCO members


The Upper West Regional Football Association (UWRFA) held its elections on March 21, 2024, at the Upland Hotel.


According to Article 47(8) of the GFA Statutes 2019, ten Executive Council membership positions are available to the various members of each regional association.


The purpose of this election was to elect members into the EXCO position in the UWRFA. The EXCO comprises of the following members: 3 Division Two clubs representatives, 1 Coach Representative, 2 Juvenile clubs representatives, 2 District Football Association Chairpersons, 1 Women representative and 1 referee representative.


Six candidates contested for the division two club positions, and one candidate, Hatibu Mohammed, was disqualified. The remaining candidates were Insah Mahmud Asamoah, Abu Iddrisu Polibu, Insah Sumaila Peter, Abubakari Kassim and Osman Mabruk.


The election was between the five candidates in the division two representative position, and at the end of the elections, 21 valid votes were cast. Insah Mahmud Asamoah received 14 votes, Abu Iddrisu Polibu received 15 votes, Insah Sumaila Peter received 13 votes, and Abubakari Kassim and Osman Mabruk received 8 and 9 votes respectively.


Issah Mahmud Asamoah, Abu Iddrisu Polibu, and Insah Sumaila Peter were elected into the Executive Council of the UWRFA for the next four years.
