Upper West Police Demonstrate Readiness Ahead of NPP Presidential Primaries

The Upper West Regional Police Command has conducted a route march through the principal streets of Wa Municipality on Friday, January 30, 2026. The exercise was part of a strategic effort to demonstrate police readiness ahead of the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primary Elections scheduled for Saturday, January 31.
Led by the Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr. Francis Yiribaare, the march commenced at 7:00 a.m. and involved personnel from the Regional Headquarters Formation. The exercise aimed to enhance police visibility, ensure personnel fitness, and reinforce the commitment to swiftly responding to any incidents that could threaten peace and stability during the electoral period.
The officers traversed key streets within Wa Municipality, culminating at Wa Jubilee Park, where Commander Yiribaare addressed the team. He briefed officers on the region’s comprehensive election security strategy, emphasizing that deployment plans had been meticulously finalized to reinforce police presence across all municipal and district levels. The objective remains to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process.
The route march concluded promptly at 9:00 a.m. without incident, underscoring the discipline and readiness of the police force.
The Upper West Regional Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the electoral cycle. In a statement to the public, the police urged all stakeholders to cooperate fully with security agencies to uphold Ghana’s democratic processes and ensure a peaceful election outcome.
