Sankanna Traditional Council to Honour Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang As a Development Queen Mother

The Sankanna Traditional Council has announced plans to install Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Development Queen Mother for the Sankanna traditional area. This honour is being bestowed upon her as a token of appreciation for her development projects and support to the Sankanna community during her tenure as Minister of Education under the NDC administration.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, during the climax of the annual Kalibi festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Sankanna. The festival is a significant event in the region, commemorating the resistance and victory of the people of Sankanna over slave raiders during the era of the slave trade.

According to Naa Bernard Mornah, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will be officially outdoored as the Development Queen Mother for the Sankanna traditional area in the presence of thousands of residents and dignitaries. According to him, the title is a testament to her dedication to the development of the Sankanna community, which has been a hallmark of her public service career.
The Kalibi festival, which dates back to the pre-colonial era, is a celebration of the bravery and resilience of the people of Sankanna. It is an opportunity for the chiefs and people of the traditional area to come together and reflect on their rich cultural heritage and historical achievements.
