Rotary Club Donates New Ambulances to Improve Emergency Healthcare Transport in Wa East and Wa West

The Rotary Club has officially commissioned several new ambulances to serve communities in the Wa East (Kataah, Kulkpong) and Wa West (Vieri, Egu) districts, marking a significant step toward resolving the region’s healthcare transport crisis.

This donation responds directly to the severe shortage of emergency vehicles that has long left residents without reliable access to life-saving medical transport. Speaking to Info Radio, Stephen Mwinkaara, Past President and Service Project Member of the Rotary Club, highlighted that the lack of ambulances has often forced families to rely on private cars or motorbikes to transport patients during emergencies and referrals.

To ensure effective use of the ambulances, Basuglo Yahaya, Programmes Manager of Moving Health, conducted training sessions for community representatives on the operation and maintenance of the new ambulance tricycles.

The introduction of these ambulances is expected to significantly reduce response times to critical incidents, including maternal emergencies and road accidents, thereby improving healthcare outcomes in the Wa East and Wa West districts.
