Residents of Tieyir, a community in the Jagluu Electoral Area of the Wa West District in the Upper West Region, have identified the construction of access roads as their most pressing development priority. The community, which currently lacks a proper road network, faces significant challenges in accessing healthcare services and markets in nearby towns such as Gurungu and Wechiau.

Despite having a health facility within the community, residents lament that the absence of adequate roads severely hampers its usefulness. Travel for secondary healthcare or commercial activities remains extremely difficult, especially during the rainy season when unmotorable paths become impassable.

During an interview with Info Radio during a recent visit, community members underscored the urgency of road development. They emphasized that improved access would not only facilitate easier movement but also enhance the delivery of essential health services.

The Chief of Tieyir, Zuzee Tie, highlighted the community's aspirations for better infrastructure, noting that there was an existing plan for a viable road to transport patients for secondary healthcare.

Mr. Debom Kuubatereyaan, a local resident, shared that residents have attempted to clear the road through communal labor efforts, but it remains unmotorable, underscoring the need for government intervention.

The community’s call for improved road infrastructure underscores the critical link between transportation and access to health and economic opportunities in rural Ghana.
