Residents in Wa Support Use of Security Cameras to Enhance Traffic Safety

Residents in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West Region have commended the installation of security cameras at traffic lights, emphasizing their crucial role in deterring and identifying drivers and riders who violate traffic signals, a leading cause of road accidents in the area.

The ministry of Interior has revealed that plans are well advanced to implement the TrafficTech system, which will equip officers with cameras, smartphones, and other digital devices to capture evidence of traffic offenses efficiently.

Community members believe that the deployment of these security cameras will significantly reduce accidents by holding reckless drivers accountable and improving overall traffic management within the municipality.

Residents also called for tougher penalties for those who fail to comply with traffic regulations, urging authorities to move beyond fines and impose stricter punishments to effectively discourage traffic violations.

This initiative is viewed as a vital step toward creating safer roads and enhancing public safety in Wa.
