Rapid Response Teams Deployed to Tackle CSM Cases in the Upper West Region


Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih


The Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has deployed Rapid Reponse Teams at both regional and district levels to conduct active case searches in health facilities and affected CSM hits communities in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

The minister disclosed this when briefing the media on Friday regarding government intevention in tackling the CSM menance in the region.

According to Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, The government together with the World Health Organisation have supplied 5000 vials of ceftriazone and 1100 bags of Infusion to the region to support in case management.

The regional minister also disclosed that the region has also received donations from some philanthropists to support in the fight against CSM

According to the regional minister, the high number of CSM related deaths in the region are mostly driven by late reporting of affected patients to health facilities.

He also blamed stigmatization and poor case management at health facilities as a contribution to the high number of CSM related deaths in the region. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih said, the region will do everything possible to conquer both CSM and COVID-19 in the region and called on the support of residents to fight the battles.
