NRSA Educates Cambuu Riders on Road Safety to Reduce Accidents in Wa

The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has taken proactive steps to enhance road safety awareness among commercial motorcycle riders in the Wa Municipality, emphasizing accident prevention and adherence to traffic regulations. The initiative was part of a broader summit organized by Dakulada.com, aimed at fostering responsible riding practices among Cambuu motorcycle operators.

During the event, Mr. Abdul Fatawu Sidik, the Planning Manager for the NRSA in the Upper West Region, outlined the core principles guiding the Authority’s operations—referred to as the 4Es: Enforcement, Emergency Response, Engineering, and Education & Advocacy. He explained that enforcement ensures compliance with traffic laws and speed limits, with penalties serving as deterrents for violations. Emergency response involves agencies such as the Ghana National Fire Service, National Ambulance Service, Ghana Red Cross Society, and NADMO, which work collaboratively to provide swift assistance during accidents.

Mr. Sidik emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among these pillars in reducing road crashes and promoting safer driving behaviors. He urged riders to stay alert and prepared at all times, cautioning against riding in the middle of the road and encouraging them to stick to designated lanes. The NRSA official also warned against sudden stops to pick up passengers, highlighting that such actions significantly increase the risk of accidents.
