Pulima Chief urged Media houses in Upper West Region to promote cultural Heritage

The Paramount Chief of Pulima in the Sissala West District, Kuoro Osman Deiwia Nankpa lll, has urged Media houses in the Upper West region to promote the Upper West Cultural Heritage.

According to the Chief, the culture is gradually falling in the region. He indicated that the initiative of the Upper West Cultural Week celebration is a way of uplifting the dying culture.


Speaking during the Upper West Cultural Week celebration, Kuoro Nankpa lll, also urged traditional leaders, religious leaders, politicians, the youth and the Media to promote the Upper West Cultural Heritage.


Kuoro Nankpa III urged the government to “facilitate the development and promotion of archaeological sites, national and community festivals and various classes of artefacts in addition to tourist infrastructure to support the tourism industry.”


He continued that whilst urging the government on the need for holistic education, “I urge the media radio and television to magnify their airwaves and lenses in the promotion of the Upper West cultural heritage.”


The Pulima Kuoro who doubled as the chairman of the ceremony, said the government has to consider the Ghanaian cultures in policy making.


“Government should work closely with traditional authorities to research, document, conserve, manage and promote positive trades of the culture of their communities,” he stated.
