The Presiding Member of the Daffiama Bussie Issa District Assembly, Mr. Stephen Katuole, has lauded the government of Ghana for its prompt disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), highlighting a notable improvement in fiscal support to local authorities.

In an interview with Info Radio, Mr. Katuole expressed appreciation for the timely release of the funds, which, he noted, is accompanied by an increased allocation to district assemblies nationwide. He emphasized that this development contrasts sharply with previous years, where disbursements were often delayed or received in inadequate amounts.

“The recent release of the DACF is a positive step forward,” Mr. Katuole stated. “It encourages assembly members and stakeholders to take pragmatic actions aimed at improving infrastructure and service delivery within our communities. We are optimistic that the effective utilization of these funds will accelerate local development projects, enhance community welfare, and reinforce the decentralization process in our district and beyond.”

However, Mr. Katuole also voiced concerns over the district’s limited capacity to mobilize internally generated revenue (IGF), despite its considerable potential. He called for a collective effort among all stakeholders , assembly members, traditional authorities, and community leaders , to bolster tax collection efforts and foster greater accountability.

The Presiding Member urged residents, particularly business owners, to fulfill their tax obligations to support ongoing and future development initiatives. He also revealed that the assembly plans to allocate future development projects based on the amount of IGF each area council can mobilize monthly, encouraging local revenue generation as a key driver of sustainable development.
