Residents of Jenkore , a farming community in the Manwe Electoral Area of the Wa East District of the Upper West Region are raising concerns over the deteriorating condition of their community’s road infrastructure. The community’s residents describe all connecting roads as being in a deplorable state, with several bridges broken and impassable, severely hindering movement and daily activities.
Speaking exclusively to Info News, Abdulai Idris criticized the government for its perceived neglect, blaming the current predicament on the authorities’ failure to complete ongoing projects before embarking on new ones. “The government needs to prioritize finishing existing projects before starting new ones. Our roads have been neglected for too long,” he lamented.
Yakubu Moomin highlighted the impact of the poor roads on access to essential services, particularly healthcare. “It has become very difficult for residents to travel outside the community to access hospitals and clinics, especially during emergencies,” he stated.
Community members, including Madam Ayisha and Madam Ahmed Wuriyata, expressed concerns about the worsening situation during the rainy season, which further complicates travel and exposes residents to additional hardships. They appealed to government authorities to intervene promptly and undertake urgent repairs to improve the roads.
Issahaku Yakubu also emphasized the need for durable and lasting road construction, urging the government to prioritize infrastructure development that can withstand the test of time and weather conditions.
