The Upper West Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Ahmed Nana Sadat, has voiced strong criticism of the current NDC administration under President John Dramani Mahama, asserting that the region has yet to see meaningful development despite the overwhelming support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) received in the 2024 general elections.
In a radio interview on Info Radio, Mr. Sadat highlighted that although the NDC secured victories in all eleven parliamentary constituencies within the region, the government has not matched the public confidence with tangible projects or infrastructural progress. He emphasized that basic initiatives, such as the construction of schools and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, are standard government responsibilities and should not be regarded as significant achievements.
Mr. Sadat also raised concerns over the implementation of the NDC’s 24-hour economy market initiative, claiming it has sown divisions among communities in various districts. Furthermore, he accused the government of failing to fully realize its flagship 24-hour economy policy, which was heavily promoted during the electoral campaign but remains unfulfilled.
The comments underscore mounting frustration among opposition figures and a across -section of residents in the region, who argue that the NDC’s electoral victory has not translated into developmental gains, raising questions about the government’s commitment to regional progress and service delivery. As political tensions continue to simmer, the Upper West remains a critical battleground for assessing the true impact of the current administration’s policies and promises.
