The Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency, Mr Bede A. Ziedeng, says he has helped to improve access to potable water in some communities in his constituency by providing them with boreholes.
He said he has also repaired spoiled boreholes in some communities in the constituency.
Speaking in an interview with Info Radio on his achievement as MP for the constituency in the past three years, he explained that, he has drilled about twelve boreholes and mechanized some as well as repaired about 70 spoiled boreholes within the period under review.
“I have, so far, drilled twelve (12) boreholes in the constituency, ten (10) of them are through the support of two (2) NGOs, - Direct Aid and Qatar Charity. Three of these boreholes have been drilled in Eremon.
Through my initiative of a programme to repair all broken down boreholes in the Constituency, I can report that so far over seventy (70) broken down boreholes have been repaired,” Mr Ziedeng stated.
He added that he has supported the payment of school fees for some tertiary students in the constituency.
He said: “I provided relief items valued at over Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC75, 000.00) to the students of Eremon Senior High Technical School when the girl’s dormitory was gutted by fire this year.”
According to Mr Ziedeng, he provided an amount of GHC12,000 to support the rehabilitation of the Eremon Junior High School.
“For the entire constituency so far over Two Hundred and sixty( 260)students have benefitted from this programme so far with each student receiving at least one thousand Ghana Cedis (ghc1000.00)bringing the total amount to over two hundred and sixty thousand Ghana Cedis (ghc260, 000.00),” he added.
He further indicated that he also provided feeding for final year students when they were writing their final examination and will continue that this year.
