Massive Corruption and Mismanagement Rock Issa Technical and Vocational Institute

The Issa Technical and Vocational Institute, a key educational institution in the Dafiama Bussie Issa District, is under intense scrutiny amid allegations of widespread corruption and financial mismanagement. Reports suggest that the school's principal and accounts officer have been embroiled in activities aimed at artificially inflating the student population to secure larger government subventions, while simultaneously engaging in illegal fee collection and misappropriating school resources.

A seven-member investigative committee, commissioned by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dafiama Bussie Issa, Hon. James Wor, has uncovered troubling evidence indicating deliberate manipulation of student numbers. Speaking on Info Radio’s “Te Zine Yiri Yela” News Current Affairs on Info Radio 91.1 FM, Hon. Wor described the findings as “deeply disturbing,” emphasizing that the principal and the accounts officer have been complicit in inflating the school’s enrollment figures to appear larger to government authorities.

“The report indicates that some students listed on the school’s records are fictitious, created solely to attract more funding from government subventions,” Hon. Wor revealed. “This malicious act not only deprives genuine students of resources but also constitutes a serious breach of public trust.”

In addition to inflating student data, the investigation uncovered evidence of illegal fee collection and poor quality provisions for students, including substandard meals. “There have been numerous reports of illegal fees being charged to students, and the quality of meals served is very disappointing,” the DCE added. “These actions have made the school increasingly unattractive to prospective students and parents.”

Hon. Wor assured that appropriate authorities would be informed of the investigation’s findings and that sanctions would be imposed on those found culpable. “The actions of the principal have damaged the reputation of the institution, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” he said.

This development has sparked concern among residents, students and parents, who fear that the ongoing mismanagement could undermine the educational objectives of the institution and compromise the integrity of government funding programs.

As the investigation continues, the community awaits decisive action to restore transparency and accountability at the Issa Technical and Vocational Institute.
