Farmers in Kpenaateng, a farming community in the Meteu Electoral Area of the Wa West District, are appealing to the government to establish the promised tractor mechanisation services centres to improve access to tractor services for farmers , particularly during the rainy season.

They say delays in securing tractors are disrupting farming activities and could lead to lower yields. The farmers are also calling for measures to reduce the cost of agricultural inputs and introduce a credit scheme to ease the financial burden on farmers.

Speaking to Info Radio during a community engagement , farmers Mr. Daniel Kpenaadungboma and Mr. Gudonga Gorden described the difficulties they face in accessing timely tractor services.

Mr Gorden said there was no tractor service provider operating near the community, leaving farmers struggling to prepare their land when needed. Mr Kpenaadungboma added that the high cost of fertiliser was putting further pressure on farmers.

The farmers say establishing tractor services centres and providing more affordable access to inputs would help them meet seasonal farming demands.
