Daffiama Residents Urge President Mahama to Fulfill Campaign Promises Amid Economic Hardships
Residents of Daffiama-Nayikori in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District have raised urgent concerns over unmet campaign promises and worsening economic conditions, calling on President John Dramani Mahama to honor his commitments made to farmers during the 2024 election campaign.
Madam Vivian, a local resident speaking to Info Radio during a community engagement appealed directly to the President to fulfill his pledge of providing subsidized fertilizers and farm inputs to support farmers. She expressed disappointment over the lack of tangible action since the election, noting that this inaction has deepened the challenges faced by farmers across the country. She further highlighted the troubling trend of declining farm produce prices over the past two years, juxtaposed with rising costs of essential farming inputs.
In a related appeal, Madam Gladys from the same community called on the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District Assembly to expedite the construction of market stalls. Speaking to Info Radio, she emphasized that the absence of a functional marketplace is severely limiting women’s economic activities and opportunities in the area.
These appeals underscore the pressing need for government and local authorities to prioritize agricultural support and local market development to alleviate economic hardships in Daffiama-Nayikori.
