Farmers in Daffiama -Bussie -Issa Appeal for Improved Market Access and Mechanized Services to Boost Agriculture

Farmers in the Daffiama Bussie Issa (DBI) District are calling on the government to address critical challenges hindering agricultural productivity and livelihoods. During a recent distribution of fertilizer to peasant farmers under the Feed Ghana program, members of the Peasant Farmers Association highlighted pressing issues including poor market access, inadequate mechanized services, and high costs of farm inputs.

Speaking to Info Radio, Mr. Lawie Vincent Bonzo, the National Youth Organiser of the Peasant Farmers Association and the DBI District Focal Person, emphasized that farmers continue to grapple with low demand and unfavorable prices for their produce. These market challenges, he explained, restrict access to essential tractor services and contribute to the rising expenses associated with fertilizers and weedicides.

Farmers in the district voiced similar frustrations. Madam Laraba Koobo highlighted that the absence of reliable markets and mechanized farming services hampers farmers' ability to earn a decent income despite their hard work.

Adding to the call for intervention, Mr. P.Y. Joseph from the Daffiama Electoral Area urged the government to improve market systems and expand access to mechanized farming solutions. He emphasized that such measures are vital to enhancing agricultural productivity and profitability for local farmers.
