Kpankole Community Pleads for Electricity Extension to Boost Communication, Education, and Security

Residents of Kpankole ,a farming community in the Wa Municipality are urgently appealing to government and local authorities to extend electricity to their community, citing severe setbacks in communication, education, security, and economic development caused by the current lack of power.

In an interview with Info Radio, community member Samuel Donyena expressed frustration over the absence of electricity, which compels residents to travel to neighboring communities to charge their mobile devices. "Many have lost phones, SIM cards, and memory cards during these trips. It’s causing unnecessary inconveniences and misunderstandings among residents," Donyena lamented. He called on the government and the Ministry of Energy to prioritize extending power infrastructure to Kpankole.

Another resident, Kojo Evans, highlighted the impact on education and security. "Children cannot study effectively at night due to poor lighting, and this also affects security and business activities in the community," Evans explained. He urged the Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Hassan Rashid Pelpuo, and government officials to intervene swiftly and facilitate the provision of electricity.

Responding to these concerns, Abdulai Zakaria, the Assembly Member for Kpankole, revealed that three communities within the Yibile Electoral Area currently lack electricity. He assured residents that the Wa Municipal Assembly has included these communities in its rural electrification program, and they are among those earmarked for connection to the national grid.
