Jongfian residents decry Poor telephone network

The poor telephony network service in Jongfian, a community in the Wa East District, is negatively impacting its development.

Some residents have reported difficulties in reaching out to each other via phone, even in dangerous circumstances when they need help.

Mr. Langzimbo Rashid, who spoke on the matter, explained that this situation is affecting all aspects of life in the community.

"The poor network coverage in our community is having a negative impact on us. We have workers who need internet to carry out their duties, which would benefit the community. Unfortunately, in case of any emergency at the farm, we are unable to make phone calls to the community for help.

Additionally, our health workers at the facility require a reliable network to perform their duties efficiently. Sometimes, we have to climb trees to get a signal for phone calls," he stated.

The headteacher of Jongfian Primary School, Mr Ebenezer Kale, mentioned that it is particularly problematic for government employees who depend on internet service for their work.

"As a government worker in this community, my biggest challenge is the lack of reliable mobile network coverage. We heavily rely on our phones to conduct research and access important information, but we often face difficulties due to the lack of electricity and internet connectivity. This has caused us to miss out on crucial information and meetings. We are urging mobile telecommunication network companies to improve their services in our area,” he added.
