Mr. Denis Banuoku, CEO of Green Fresh Aquaponics speaking to Info Radio highlighted the significant potential of the technology. "Aquaponics offers enormous opportunities, especially for small-scale farmers. It utilizes limited space and water but delivers exceptionally high yields," he stated.

Mr. Banuoku emphasized that the facilities required for aquaponics can be constructed using locally sourced materials, making the technology affordable and accessible to Ghanaian farmers. He also noted that a variety of crops, particularly vegetables, can be cultivated effectively through this integrated system, which combines fish farming with plant cultivation.

The event's keynote speaker, Professor Hamidatu Darimani, underscored the importance of agriculture in national sovereignty and independence. "Agriculture must be viewed as a strategic sector that determines a people's autonomy.

Currently, studies are underway to identify the most suitable location within the Upper West Region for a pilot aquaponics project," he explained.

As Ghana explores sustainable solutions to boost its agricultural sector, the partnership between CIKOD and Green Fresh Aquaponics marks a promising step toward innovative, resource-efficient farming that could transform the livelihoods of countless farmers across Ghana.
