Honorable Abass Ridwan Dauda, former NPP Member of Parliament for Sissala East, has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to transcend factional loyalties and focus on electing capable leaders who can spearhead the party’s resurgence ahead of the 2028 general elections. His appeal comes amidst the conclusion of nominations for the party’s constituency-level executive elections, a crucial step in the NPP’s ongoing reorganization efforts.

In an interview with Info Radio, Mr. Dauda expressed concern that some delegates tend to cast their votes based on factional affiliations rather than a candidate’s competence and potential to deliver tangible results for the party. He emphasized the importance of setting aside internal divisions to select leaders who can unify the party and enhance its electoral prospects.

Mr. Dauda also highlighted a positive shift in the mindset of delegates across Ghanaian political parties, noting a growing emphasis on merit and performance in leadership selection. He expressed confidence that NPP delegates will make informed choices, prioritizing qualities that will strengthen the party’s unity and competitiveness for the 2028 elections.
