Farmers in Dabilipuo Decry High Cost of Farm Inputs, Call for Government Support

ree

Farmers in the community of Dabilipuo, a small farming community in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region of Ghana , have raised concerns over the soaring costs of agricultural inputs, which they say are hindering their ability to cultivate crops effectively. The farmers cited expensive fertilizers and tractor services as primary challenges affecting their yields.

According to local farmers, the inability to afford necessary inputs has resulted in reduced crop production, threatening their livelihoods and food security in the area. They also lamented the lack of government support or grants to assist smallholder farmers in the region.

In an interview with Info Radio, Mr. Balin Tampuori, a resident farmer, appealed to government authorities to intervene by reducing the cost of farm inputs or providing assistance such as fertilizers to boost productivity. Similarly, Mr. Daful Kapare emphasized that farmers in Dabilipuo have never benefited from any government grants or support programs.

The farmers' concerns highlight the ongoing challenges faced by smallholder farmers in the district and underscore the need for targeted interventions to support agricultural productivity and food security in the region.
