DBI: Herdsmen invade farming communities with cattle

ree

Residents of some farming communities in the Daffiama-Bussei-Issa (DBI) District, located in the Upper West Region, are reporting that their communities have been taken over by herdsmen who allow their cattle to destroy their farms.

The people from communities like Fian, Pulbaa, Kojopkere, Jenpensi, and others have complained bitterly about the activities of the herdsmen in the area.

This concern was raised during Info Radio's visit to Jenpensi, which is a community under the Chala electoral area.

Mahamadu Fuseini, the District's 2023 Best Farmer, expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating that the activities of the herdsmen are negatively affecting farmers in the district.

Fulani herdsmen have been causing disturbances by grazing their cattle on our farms and threatening us whenever we complain. We urge the government to enact laws to regulate their activities.

Another resident, Mr Abubakari Wanye, expressed concern over the threat posed by some of the herdsmen to the residents' lives.
