The Daffiama-Bussie Issa District Assembly on Tuesday officially commenced three transformative development projects aimed at enhancing educational and healthcare infrastructure within the district. The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by community members and officials, marked a significant step toward improving access to vital services for residents.
The projects, which include a new Kindergarten block at Fian, an operation theatre at the Daffiama Health Centre, and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Dankyelle–Nayikore Baliregbee, are part of the district’s broader strategy to foster sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the ceremony, District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. James Wor emphasized the importance of these initiatives in strengthening community health and education. "These projects are vital to our vision of bringing quality services closer to our people," he said. "We are committed to ensuring their timely completion within three months, and the Assembly will provide all necessary support to make this happen."
Mr. Wor also lauded residents, especially those of Daffiama, for their voluntary cooperation, which he described as critical to the successful execution of the projects. He assured the community that the Assembly would oversee the work and facilitate the provision of equipment and logistics to ensure efficient construction.
Site engineer Mr. Donatus Tay-Worgbale advised residents to avoid interference with ongoing construction activities to maintain quality standards and expedite progress. He urged community members to direct any concerns through official channels, although visits to the site would remain permissible.
Residents expressed optimism about the projects, highlighting the anticipated benefits of improved healthcare and educational facilities. A local resident noted that the new CHPS compound would significantly reduce the need for long-distance travel to access health services, thereby enhancing safety and community well-being.
