The Chief and people of Kalahi, a community in the Wa East District, have decried the many development challenges in the community which they say are affecting their lives.

They said the community is challenged with access to potable water and good access roads among others.

Speaking in an interview with Info Radio, the Chief of the community, Naa Saatin Salia, said the poor state of the roads is adversely affecting their social and economic lives.

According to him, the electoral area has two roads which have not seen any rehabilitation for over a decade now.

Naa Salia stated that “thirteen years ago, Loggu, Baalayiri, Wawa, Kalanhi, and Kunchilayiri roads were rehabilitated, but the bridges were left unrepaired and are yet to be filled with gravel.”

He mentioned that the gravel that was brought to the site to be used in filling the bridges has been taken over by trees.

He appealed to the necessary stakeholders, especially the Wa East District Assembly and the Member of Parliament to come to their aid by putting the roads into good shape.
