CAPECS -Ghana Engages Wa West Community on Conflict Prevention and Violence Resilience

A local Non- Governmental organisation based in Wa, The Capacity Enhancement and Community Support (CAPECS) Ghana programme has actively engaged residents of the Wa West District in training sessions aimed at preventing conflicts and building resilience against violence.

Richmond B. Dombo, the registrar of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, told Info Radio that the training emphasized proactive strategies for communities to address conflicts before they escalate. He explained that fostering resilience requires early education, open dialogue, and cooperation among community members. The programme also provided practical steps for peacefully resolving disputes.

Miss. Museidatu Alhassan, representing CAPECS Ghana, highlighted the importance of educating residents on the nature and impact of conflict before intervening. She stressed that both victims and participants in violent incidents need comprehensive education on peaceful conflict resolution. Understanding the root causes of disputes, she said, is key to developing lasting solutions and preventing future violence.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to promote peace and stability throughout the Wa West District.
