Black Queens eliminate Namibia to qualify for WAFCON 2024

Ghana has qualified for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) despite losing 1-0 to Namibia in the 2nd leg of the final round qualifier in Pretoria, South Africa.

The black Queens beat Namibia 3-1 in the 1st round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

The Black Queens qualified on a 3-2 aggregate. Namibia scored the game's only goal in the 15th minute through Nanamus Lydiana. Ghana Women’s national team has picked a slot for next year's tournament in Morocco.

This is the first defeat under Coach Nora Häuptle, who took charge in February this year. However, Nora has succeeded in qualifying for the WAFCON for the first time since 2018.

Ghana becomes the fourth country to secure qualification to the continent's flagship female competition, joining host Morocco, South Africa, and Algeria.
