Agriculture Extension Agents encourage farmers to register for PFJ2.0 despite approaching end of rainy season

The Agriculture Extension Agents (AEA) on Info Radio’s Bangkuobu program said they are still registering farmers under the PFJ2.0 despite the rainy season approaching its end.

They said it has become necessary because farmers, whose crops were destroyed by the just-ended dry spell, can only benefit from the government’s intervention fund under the program.

Speaking on the matter, Nasiru Sidik, the Agricultural Extension Agent (AEA) for the Vieri Zone in the Wa West District, expressed that the increasing demand has put significant pressure on them as Agriculture Officers.

The Agricultural Extension Agent (AEA) for the Busa Zone in the Wa Municipal, Musah Zakaria, mentioned that since the program spans five years, farmers who may not benefit from it this year should remain hopeful.

Musah mentioned that they are facing difficulties with farmers who are not included in the grant component of the program. He explained that AEAs do not have the influence to choose beneficiaries for the grant system.

Meanwhile, farmers participating in the non-grant component of the program have not yet received any inputs. The Bangkuobu Program airs every Tuesday from 8 pm to 9:30 pm, with a repeat airing on Saturday at the same time. Listeners can tune in to hear the full conversation this coming Saturday.
