Youth supporters of political parties urged to pursue education and skills acquisition

Mr Tahiru Lukman, CEO, Ideapath Consult

Mr Tahiru Lukman, the CEO for Ideapath Consult, has advised young people who are supporters of political parties to pursue education and skills acquisition to make themselves useful in the political space.

He urged the youth to arm themselves with education, knowledge and skills to make them work ready even as they go about their politics.

“If you are a youth party supporter and you do not acquire education, how would you be considered for a job when your party comes to power and there is an opportunity?” Mr Lukman questioned.

The Ideapath Consult CEO said this on Info Radio’s “Ti Zine Yiri Yele” on Thursday, August 11, 2022 prior to the International Youth Day celebration on Friday.

He also called on the youth to work hard and not to only depend on politicians for a living.

Mr Lukman observed that the youth were the backbone of every country’s economy as they contribute most their manpower resources.

He said it is in recognition of the youth’s contribution to the development of their counties that the United Nations (UN) set up the International Youth Day (IYD) to harness and build the youth’s potentials for national development.

He said Africa is described as the hub of man power because of the youthful nature of her population hence, the need to rally support for the youth through a platform such as the IYD.

Mr Lukman however bemoaned the sideling of youth of the country when it comes to taking up leadership positions across the government ministries, agencies and departments.

He also observed that most leaders today do not support the growth and development youth in the country.

He called on the Ghanaian government to involve the youth in all stages of decision-making and national development discourse.

This year’s IYD celebration, to be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, is on the theme: Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages.
