NPP Holds Upper West Regional Executive Elections Today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is today, Saturday, August 15, holding its regional executive elections as part of the party’s ongoing internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In the Upper West Region, 260 delegates are expected to cast their ballots to elect regional executives who will oversee the party’s activities and strengthen its structures across the region.
The Upper West contest is expected to attract particular attention, with incumbent Regional Organiser Alhassan Kanton Alaska Braimah Nala challenging incumbent Regional Chairperson Abdul Aziz Abudul-Rahman for the chairmanship position.
The Women’s Organiser race is also expected to be competitive, with incumbent Women’s Organiser, Nancy Ayuo Dery, facing a challenge from her deputy, Minata Mumuni
Other positions being contested include First and Second Vice Chairpersons, Secretary, Organiser, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Nasara Organiser.
The NPP’s regional elections form part of a broader internal electoral process that began with polling station and constituency-level elections.
The party has deployed national representatives to the various regions to supervise the exercise and ensure compliance with approved electoral guidelines. The representatives are also expected to report on the conduct of the elections, including any irregularities that may arise.
The party has further directed its Regional Executive Elections Committees to maintain professionalism, discipline, transparency and fairness throughout the process.
Upper West Regional Aspirants
For the position of Regional Chairperson, the contenders are Abdul Aziz Abudul-Rahman and Alhassan Kanton Alaska Braimah Nala.
The First Vice Chairperson race has Majeed Limann, Ali Kamara Karim Tankari and Aasoglenang Thadeous Arkum, while Philip Yaw Braimah and Wongtina Bamutu are contesting the Second Vice Chairperson position.
Three aspirants—Tanko Daniel Dawda, Dawuda Kaleo Salia and Agape Kanyiri Danwah—are contesting for Secretary.
The Organiser position has four candidates: Mohammed Saana Hamid, Amadu Adama, Mustapha Ibrahim Dimah and Seidu Issahaku Sulemana.
For Deputy Secretary, Yussif Alhassan and Sulemani Benin are contesting.
The Nasara Organiser position is being contested by Mohammed Muniru Ali and Hudu Abdul-Jalilu, while Ahmed Nana Sadat and Bukari Ali are contesting for Communications Officer.
The Treasurer race features Alhassan Suleman and James Kpir-Faatey Saatiri.
Four candidates—Haki Insah, Yahaya Suleman, Amidu Reedwan and Dodoo Yussif Sadat—are contesting for Youth Organiser.
The Women’s Organiser race is between Minata Mumuni and Nancy Ayuo Dery.
The elections are being closely watched as the NPP seeks to consolidate its regional structures and position the party for the 2028 general elections.
