Madam Rashida Iddrisu, the Women in Agriculture Development (WIAD) Officer for Upper West Region, has stated that women in the region exhibit more interest in irrigation farming than their male counterparts.
Speaking on Info Radio's Bangkuobu programme on Tuesday, Madam Rashida explained that women are largely responsible for cooking and require vegetables for the same.
She added that women take irrigation farming more seriously in the region despite the enormous challenges they faced including the lack of land.
To address these challenges, WIAD according to her is implementing several interventions to improve the situation of women farmers.
For instance, in finding a market for their products, farmers are advised to look for buyers before going into farming.
