The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency has called on the District Chief Executive, Member of Parliament and Speaker of Parliament to intervene over reports of possible changes to the original design of the 24-Hour Economy Market project under construction in Nadowli.

In a press release dated October 16, 2026, the party expressed concern that the government intends to alter the project's original design without adequately informing or consulting relevant stakeholders.

The NPP alleges that the proposed changes could reduce the market from the originally planned one-storey structure to a ground-floor-only building, potentially affecting the scope of the project and the delivery of additional facilities.

According to the party, the original architectural designs included a kindergarten (KG) school block, a clinic and a banking facility, which residents expected to form part of the modern market complex.

The party argues that the people of Nadowli-Kaleo deserve the full benefits of the project, particularly following the demolition of the old market to make way for the new development.

It says traders and residents have had to accommodate the construction in anticipation of improved trading conditions, expanded economic opportunities and access to essential services.

The NPP has therefore called on the District Chief Executive, Mary Haruna, the Member of Parliament, Anthony Sumah, and the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to engage the relevant authorities to ensure that the original commitments are fulfilled.

The party wants the DCE to provide clear information on the current scope of work, any approved design changes and the status of the additional facilities. It has also urged the MP to demand answers from the relevant government agencies, while calling on the Speaker to use his influence to help secure the promised development for the constituency.

The party further insists that if financial constraints have necessitated any changes, the government must explain the reasons publicly and provide a clear plan for completing any deferred facilities.

It says residents deserve certainty about whether the proposed KG block, clinic and banking facility will be constructed, when they will be delivered and how the work will be financed.

The NPP stressed that its position is not intended to oppose development or deny the government credit for the ongoing project, but to ensure that the completed facility meets the expectations created by the original plan.

It has consequently demanded a public explanation of the current design, confirmation of all facilities to be delivered and a definite completion schedule for the entire project.

The statement, issued by the party's Constituency Communication Officer, Nanzonige Peter, warns that residents will not accept vague explanations, indefinite delays or the abandonment of facilities included in the original vision for the market.

The party maintains that transparency and accountability are necessary to ensure that Nadowli-Kaleo receives the full development benefits it was promised.
