After days of despair, hope has finally sprung up for farmers in the Wa Municipality as the recent rains bring relief from the crippling drought.
With the welcome showers reaching every corner of the municipality, farmers have wasted no time in getting back to business, eagerly sowing new crops and nursing their withered fields back to health.
In an exclusive interview with Info Radio, Muizdeen Bayere, Agricultural Extension Agent for the Boli Zone, revealed a promising turnaround in the agricultural sector.
Following recent rainfall, crops are exhibiting signs of recovery, reinvigorating farmers' confidence to resume planting activities.
Furthermore, Bayere provided an update on the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) Phase 2 programme, announcing the distribution of consignments to eligible beneficiaries.
“We have taken our share of the inputs under the grants system; we are just left with a small to finish the distribution to qualified farmers.”
He mentioned that about 1, 470 farmers are benefitting from the grants system in the Wa Municipality.
