The Assembly Member for the Funsi North Electoral Area in the Wa East District, Hon. Mahamud Yussif, has raised serious concerns over the dilapidated state of school infrastructure in his electoral area . During a recent interview on Info Radio, Hon. Yussif described the facilities as being in a dire condition, with worn-out doors and windows, and roofs and walls that are in a deplorable state.
He further lamented that the school has become a refuge for stray animals during weekends, vacations, and after school hours, posing health and safety risks to students. The lack of adequate furniture has also hampered effective teaching and learning, making it difficult for both teachers and students to function optimally.
Hon. Yussif emphasized that the challenges faced by the Wa East District extend beyond infrastructure. He pointed out that many assembly staff members are negligent, often failing to report to work promptly or at all, which hampers district development efforts. He called for a concerted effort to address these issues swiftly, stressing that the future of education and community progress depends on urgent intervention.
The Wa East district authorities and relevant stakeholders are urged to prioritize the rehabilitation of school facilities and improve administrative discipline to foster a conducive learning environment and ensure effective governance.
