The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wa Central constituency has issued a strong rebuttal to claims made by the Member of Parliament for Wa Central (MP), Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, during a recent press soiree at the Peace Star Hotel in Wa . The opposition party alleges that the MP’s assertions regarding developmental projects and support initiatives are misleading and lack transparency.
In a detailed press release, copied to Info Radio, NPP Wa Central constituency communications Director Mr. Stephen Naah challenged the accuracy of Pelpuo’s claims concerning infrastructure, education, healthcare, and water supply projects. The party emphasizes that many of the reported achievements are either misrepresented or misattributed.
The NPP highlighted that the construction of a GNPC-funded three-unit classroom block at Wa Model School was initiated under President Akufo-Addo’s administration and stalled during the subsequent NDC-led government. They assert that the MP had no involvement in its construction.
Regarding educational support, the party refuted Pelpuo’s claim of donating desktop computers to Wa Senior High Technical School, labeling it as false. Similarly, allegations that the MP donated cadet uniforms to Wa Islamic Girls Senior High School were dismissed as unsubstantiated.
The NPP further criticized the MP’s purported organization of mock examinations for BECE candidates, describing these as a misuse of the Common Fund meant for genuine educational support. They challenged Pelpuo to publish details of purported support to 150 tertiary students, including their institutions and programs, to prove transparency.
On healthcare, the NPP questioned Pelpuo’s claim of 58,000 Ghana cedis support for medical bills between January and September, citing inconsistencies in the reported figures and the lack of documented disbursements. They pointed out an earlier visit in April 2025 to a hospital for IGP Habib Yazeed’s treatment, suggesting that the subsequent claim of GhC 58,000 was exaggerated.
Regarding water projects, the party accused the MP of inflating the number and cost of boreholes constructed in 2025. Records indicate that some boreholes, claimed to have been built in 2025, were actually commissioned before the 2024 elections and suffered breakdown shortly after. The party also questioned the reported repair costs for boreholes, urging the media to scrutinize the claims and demand evidence of expenditure.
The NPP Wa Central emphasized the need for honest and transparent governance, urging the MP to respect his constituents with truthful reporting of developmental efforts and resource utilization.
The NPP Wa Central’s Communications Director, Hon. Stephen Naah, reiterated the party’s commitment to accountability and urged the public to critically evaluate claims made by political figures.
