Wa Central MP Under Fire As Party Youth Group Calls for His Removal

A group of NDC youths in the Wa Central Constituency has called on party delegates to vote out the incumbent Member of Parliament for Wa Central Constituency Dr. Rashid Pelpuo.

The group calling itself Crusaders for Positive Change accused the Wa central member of parliament of under-performing as a representative of the constituency for the past 19 years. They therefore appealed to party delegates to vote out Dr. Rashid Pelpuo in the upcoming NDC parliamentary elections.

According to the Wa Central NDC Youth Group leader Mr. Mohammed Kamaldeen Sungbawiera “after nearly 20 years of being driven by a driver who is taking us nowhere but continuously giving us one clueless promise to another, there is no better time than this for us to rise up to the occasion and make a positive impact through positive change. It is pathetic to note that our MP has taken for granted the grace of God and generosity of the good people of Wa Central who have stayed loyal to his course for nearly 20 years in futility. The hope of the masses was that he could build our dear Wa Central Constituency and place it on an enviable pedestal, only for us to be heavily disappointed by his chronic and cyclical incompetence, lack of ability and dexterity. His only success story is that he has successfully developed his parochial self at the gruesome expense of his good constituents ” .

The Youth group accused the Wa Central MP of having no policy plans for youth empowerment but rather only attends to frustrated youth that insult him on platforms by giving peanuts to them to continue to suffer but can’t just use any network to get them sustainable jobs.

The NDC youth has therefore appealed to the NDC delegates in the Wa Central Constituency to vote for Alhaji. Hudi Mogtar as the next leader to lead the NDC in the constituency parliamentary elections in 2024.

According to the youth group “ Hudi Mogtar is the best person to effect the positive change, build the constituents and leave while the applause is loudest. We wish to state unequivocally that, ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI WILL NEVER BE A MUGABE MP“ .

A PRESS CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY THE CRUSADERS FOR A POSITIVE CHANGE IN WA CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2023.

Good afternoon distinguished and open-minded crusaders present, unbiased friends from the media, hardworking ladies and gentlemen. We bring to you this comradely greeting this afternoon to thank you and welcome you all for honoring our invitation even on this short notice to discuss our beloved Wa Central Constituency and our great party the NDC.

Somewhere last year, the General Secretary of our party announced dates for our internal party primaries and guidelines for the elections. We have always taken keen interest in all party activities and elections of this nature are so dear to our hearts. We are the CRUSADERS FOR A POSITIVE CHANGE in the Wa Central Constituency and we wish to encourage you all to embrace change and whole heartedly see the need for a positive change in the Wa Central Constituency.

Enlightened comrades present, our incumbent MP has never had any plan for the youth of Wa Central. He only attends to frustrated youth that insult him on platforms by giving peanuts to them to continue to suffer but can’t just use any network to get them sustainable jobs.

He has never tried to unite the youth front because he feels threatened and knows that a united Wa Central Youth front will put checks and balances to call him to order and expose his incompetence. HON. RASHID PELPUO should tell us one youth empowerment policy he has ever initiated and implemented for the good people of Wa central constituency?

Our MP has ridiculously told our people since he has served 19 years in parliament, he needs another term for him to get a cabinet ministerial position and now help his people. What a waste of time and position. Who promised him a ministerial position? Who says he will be considered for a ministerial position? Who says spending unproductive 19 years in parliament guarantees a ministerial position? Do you think H.E JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA will condone a non performing parliamentarian as a minister? Come on, we have gone past such Kwaku Ananse stories. In any case, being a member of parliament is not the only qualification to becoming a cabinet minister.

We wish to remind him that H.E JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA is a progressive leader and only appoints qualified people to cabinet strictly based on merit and not merely on longevity of serving as an MP. Indeed, there are several cabinet ministers across various governments of the fourth republic who were never MPs. We want to emphasize that the requirement of a cabinet minister is purely based on merit and competence, so for our 19 years old MP to tie his appointment of a cabinet minister to he becoming an MP is a smack of blatant incompetence and leadership paralysis.

Our MP also makes a claim that Wa Central needs him more because he has African and international exposure, whaaaat? He should be very grateful and thankful to the good people of Wa for exposing him to Ghanaians for him to only develop himself at the expense of the constituency leaving our constituency lagging behind its co-equals. He should be reminded again that one man cannot be a citadel of all knowledge, and for society to progress, change must be constant.

Again, since our MP has no policy for the youth and the constituency, it has led to the decline in the number of votes for the party since he took over from the late M.A SEIDU in 2005. When M.A SIEDU left the seat, the margin between the NDC and NPP was over 18000 votes, currently the difference in votes is merely a little over 5,000.

Furthermore, the MP employs ‘use and dump’ tactics before and after elections. He only remembers people during electioneering and dump them right after getting what he wants from them. This is most regrettable and disgusting.

More so, the abysmal performance of our MP in parliamentary work is a dent on the image of Wa Central Constituency. He doesn’t contribute to meaningful debates and only sits to admire the likes of JOHN JINAPOR, SAMUEL OKUDZETO ABLAKWA, SAM GEORGE, HARUNA IDDRISU, DR. GODFRED SEIDU JASAW, TOOBU PETER LANCHENE etc. when they make intellectual debates in parliament. In the just ended parliamentary caucus ranking, he was last in the region and 137th in parliament and technically the very last in the minority caucus. It is therefore not surprising that he was the only MP whose seat was taken for HON HARUNA IDDRISU so that he could ostensibly become a back bencher as his befitting position. Such an embarrassment.

Ladies and gentlemen, a change in constituencies like JIRAPA, SISAALA WEST, WA EAST, NADOWLI/KALEO AND WA WEST has exposed our Wa Central MP big time. These first time MPs have distinguished themselves in parliament and they have brought massive development and positive energies to their people. So, change is actually a good thing.

Comrades, we challenge our long serving MP to just mention ten (10) constituents he has empowered by helping them setup businesses, helped them gain scholarships abroad to pursue his much talked about medicine. He should just mention the names of these medical doctors he claims to have sponsored. What kind of medicine are those students learning for about 20 years and they never graduated? Are they learning how to resurrect the dead? The only evidence we could hold on to as a support is some paltry GHC 2000 he claimed he used to support a vibrant young NDC man only to turn around and broadcast it widely because the discerning gentleman decided to register his divergent opinion on who should become our next parliamentary candidate. We find this preposterous, incongruous, disingenuous and a blatant attack on the integrity of the young man.

Comrades, our MP also talks about projects he has brought to the constituency. He should just mention a project he has ever started from scratch to finish in his 19years as MP. He should get serious and know he can’t fool all the people at all times.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have wholeheartedly declared our support for the incoming parliamentary candidate for the NDC Wa Central Constituency ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI because he has always been with us and has contributed his quota to the party. He has renovated Charingu Classroom Block Mojon borehole has been fixed Guli borehole mechanized provided an office space fully furnished to the then kantajeri led communication team and which was taken over by the Zongo Caucus Coordinator ALHAJ HUDU MOGTARI generously donated five (5) motorbikes to Chairman BUNAS led Executives in 2020 Elections and provided GHC15,000 to the Regional Executives under Chairman MATCO led administration with party souvenirs He donated GHC10, 000 in 2016 to then ALHAJI SEIDU JAMATUTU led administration and may his soul rest in peace. An amount of GHC5,000 was donated to Chairman Sule led administration in the 2022 Constituency Elections to provide food to delegates An amount of GHC6, 000 was generously given to the elders of the party to support their preparation of meals for the elections.

Our MP should have thrown in the towel looking at circumstances around the constituency. The three challengers of the MP are good but this time and stage in our lives we think ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI is the best person to effect the positive change, build the constituents and leave while the applause is loudest. We wish to state unequivocally that, ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI WILL NEVER BE A MUGABE MP.

ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI has a broad heart and a bigger vision and mission for Wa central constituency, some of these are: Youth empowerment by providing scholarship opportunities to constituents and creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth. He intends to provide capital for women groups and individuals to start businesses and be self-sufficient. Supporting legislations to improve the lives of deprived communities.

Advocate for development through enhanced health, job creation and agricultural development by working with constituents and relevant stakeholders to build the Wa Central we want and many more etc.

We will like to conclude by urging all delegates in Wa Central to think about the future of the constituency, the threat to the seat and give ALHAJI HUDI MOGTARI the chance to lead us for progressiveness and competence. ALHAJI HUDU MOGTARI IS #1 ON THE BALLOT. EYE ZU EYE ZAA!!!!
