The Public Relations Officer for the Center for National Culture in the Upper West Region, Mr. Mulumba Songore, has called on residents to foster a deeper appreciation for their cultural heritage and live in accordance with their traditions. In his address at a creative writing and decolonization event organized by Tupaso Senior High School, Mr. Songore emphasized the importance of embracing African identity and pride.
Speaking alongside renowned local writer Ishmael Junuor, Mr. Songore highlighted the need to celebrate cultural values, especially during upcoming festivities such as Christmas and New Year. He urged that these celebrations be observed in an African manner, asserting that Western-style celebrations often promote promiscuity and immoral behaviors, which are detrimental to societal morals.
Mr. Songore’s call for cultural revival underscores the importance of preserving indigenous practices and promoting national identity within the region and beyond.
